
Biography
Mr Haggai Kanenga is a scholar of international development and political economy, with a strong research focus on China’s global economic engagements. He is currently a PhD candidate at The Open University (UK), researching Chinese investment in wind energy infrastructure in Europe under the European Research Council-funded REDEFINE project. in 2024, Mr Kanenga held a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Germany, where he explored the political economy of Chinese wind energy investments. His external teaching experience includes supporting postgraduate modules in Development Studies at The Open University (UK) and serving as an intern on the Graduate Board of Editors at the Socio-Economic Review (Oxford University Press). Mr. Kanenga holds a Master’s degree in International Trade from Southeast University in China and a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies from the University of Zambia. His work engages with critical themes at the intersection of geopolitics, development, trade, and foreign direct investment.
