- Official Launch of the African HIV, Infectious Diseases & Global Health Implementation Research Institute (Afri-HIGH IRI) Hub.
In April 2024, the African HIV, Infectious Diseases & Global Health Implementation Research Institute (Afri-HIGH IRI) Hub was officially launched in Durban, South Africa, with a two-day “Train the Trainers” workshop (15–16 April at Skye Coastlands Hotel).
The workshop, co-led by Washington University in St. Louis, HIGH-IRI at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), and the University of Zambia (UNZA), this inaugural workshop brought together emerging African faculty and senior seasoned Implementation Science mentors to
- Build advanced knowledge in implementation research methods relevant to African health systems.
- Strengthen training and mentoring capacity, preparing faculty to guide the next generation of researchers.
- Navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of implementing evidence-based HIV, infectious diseases, and global health interventions across diverse African contexts.
The launch of the Afri-HIGH IRI Hub marked a pivotal step toward creating a sustainable, Africa-led training platform for implementation science, closely aligned with health system realities on the continent#ImplementationScience #GlobalHealth #HIV #AfriHIGHIRI #CapacityBuilding.
